Commemorations for the centenary of the Armistice at ANZAC Cottage will be held on Saturday November 10 when The Friends of ANZAC Cottage will open the Cottage from 10am to 3pm and continue on November 11 from 10am to 6pm. Both days will feature the “Field of Remembrance”, a display of white crosses dedicated by community members to veterans who have served in all wars. Also on display will be a temporary exhibition, “The Memorial Men,” telling the stories of a group of men who built their own memorial and the Subdividers will play some popular songs on Sunday afternoon, reflecting the joy with which the news of the Armistice was greeted one hundred years ago. The weekend will culminate with a Sunset Service conducted by the Friends on Sunday November 11 commencing at 5pm. This will be the last service commemorating the Armistice to be conducted on the Australian mainland. All are welcome to visit this historic Cottage and to attend the evocative Sunset Service.
