Engage with science in a fun, interactive and thrilling family day out at the Innovation Games at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 18 August from 12noon – 5.30pm, as part of the Sydney Science Festival during National Science Week.

The FREE event will entertain and inspire Sydneysiders’ interest in science, sport and technology with loads of live shows, interactive workshops, games and gadgets, film screenings, daring demos, crazy creatures, job-future info sessions and so much more amid a carnival atmosphere the whole family will enjoy.

Held at Cathy Freeman Park, the theme of the 2018 Innovation Games is ‘Racing the Future’. Attendees will be able to generate energy while burning some off by hitting the pump track with their BMX bikes, skateboards or scooters.

Visitors can also get the low down on drones, take-off on flying simulators or connect in real-time with aerospace personnel from the NASA space centre! There will be opportunities to learn about coding and career pathways into STEM fields, nature discovery trails, slimy and scaly creatures to pat, and of course the chance to kick the physics out of a footy.

The 2018 Innovation Games will be held nearby the Bledisloe Cup match at ANZ Stadium (opposite Cathy Freeman Park) and within walking distance of Spotless Stadium where the AFL’s GWS Giants will take on the Sydney Swans.

“The Innovation Games provides the community with a great opportunity to experience sport science and technology in a practical and fun way as part of National Science Week alongside the buzz of two top tier football matches,” said Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Charles Moore.

“Science and technology is weaved in all aspects of life including sport and one of our aspirations is that Sydney Olympic Park becomes the Silicon Valley of sport. One of the exhibitors showcased at the Innovation Games is from our Sydney Sports Incubator which already has over 30 start ups driving innovation.”
